The difference

One practitioner.
Full picture.

When the same person programmes your training and treats your soft tissue, nothing gets missed. A tension pattern limiting your pull strength. A hip flexor restriction loading your lower back under squats. A recovery window that needs protecting before a heavy session.

Your PT and massage sessions share the same context because they're built by the same person. That's not available at a standalone physio clinic, and it's not available from a PT who doesn't also do the clinical work.

"Most of the training problems I see in the gym trace back to something I'd find in the first ten minutes of a massage. The two services are the same job viewed from different angles."
Who this is for

Built for people who train with intention.

The WFH or Hybrid Professional

You train before calls or between them. You need sessions that are focused, efficient, and worth leaving the home office for. Time is the constraint — not motivation. Every session has to earn its place in your diary.

The Senior Professional or Business Owner

Your schedule doesn't accommodate wasted effort. You want a coach, not someone to stand next to you while you count reps. Results you can measure, a programme that makes sense, and a practitioner who respects your time and your intelligence.

The Performance Amateur Athlete

You compete, or you used to. You know the difference between training with structure and just staying active. You want the former — and you want a coach whose background means they understand the standard you're holding yourself to.

Terangi Maeva

"I spent my career in professional sport. When I moved into personal training and massage, I brought the same standard with me — because the people training at Christopher Place deserve the same rigour as anyone I worked with in professional rugby."

I played Premiership rugby and I've worked with elite athletes throughout my career as a Senior PT and Sports Massage Therapist at Fitness First. I hold an RFU Level 3 coaching qualification and I'm currently completing an MSc in Strength and Conditioning. I also head up women's development at Surrey RFU — which means I bring the same performance science thinking to every client I work with here in St Albans.

My approach is evidence-based and individual. There's no generic programme, no one-size template, and no wasted sessions. If you're training with me, you're getting the same quality of coaching I'd apply in an elite environment — applied directly to what you're trying to achieve.

Getting started

Three steps from today.

01
Free Assessment

30 minutes at Christopher Place. We look at your training history, goals, any injuries or restrictions, and your schedule. You leave with a clear picture of what the programme would look like — whether you go ahead or not. No hard sell.

02
Your Programme, Built

A training programme built from your assessment data — not a template with your name on it. We agree the frequency, the format, and the block structure that fits your life. Sessions go in the diary. The work begins.

03
Consistent, Progressive, Tracked

Every session logged. Every block progressed. Soft tissue work integrated with training load as needed. A formal review at six weeks. The kind of accountability that means you actually get the results you came for.

Questions

Straight answers.

Do I need to be a Fitness First member?

No. You do not need to be a Fitness First member to train or be treated with Terangi. Sessions take place at Fitness First St Albans, Christopher Place — PT on the gym floor, massage in the treatment room — and Terangi arranges your access. Just book your assessment.

What's the difference between the monthly rate and a quarterly block?

Monthly rate is the standard session rate (£80 PT, £80 massage follow-up) paid month by month, with 30-day cancellation. A quarterly block is paid upfront for 12 weeks and saves 12–14% against the monthly rate. Most clients who are serious about results go quarterly — the commitment is part of what makes it work.

Can I combine PT and massage in the same package?

The 2× PT + Massage quarterly block (£1,860) includes 24 PT sessions (two a week) and 6 massage treatments (two a month) over 12 weeks — the most popular combined package. Additional massage sessions can be added at the standard rate or on a separate block. Your assessment is the right time to discuss what combination makes sense for you.

What does the free assessment actually involve?

30 minutes. We go through your training history, current activity, any injuries, goals, and schedule. You'll get a brief movement observation and a clear sense of what the programme would address and why. Nothing is sold to you in that session — it's information for both of us. You leave knowing whether it's a fit.

I've worked with PTs before and didn't see results. Why would this be different?

In most cases it comes down to three things: the programme wasn't built around the individual, the progression wasn't tracked properly, or the two elements — training and recovery — weren't working together. This model addresses all three. If none of that was the issue, the assessment will surface what was — and we'll have an honest conversation about whether this is the right fit.

Where exactly are you based at Fitness First?

Fitness First St Albans, 17 Christopher Place, St Albans, AL3 5DQ. The gym is in the city centre, easily walkable from the station. Terangi operates from both the gym floor (PT) and a designated massage room within the facility.

The assessment is free.
The sessions are worth it.
